Eligibility to live in Fort Schuyler House is based on the person's household gross annual income compared to HUD's income limit for the New York City area. Fort Schuyler House has 130 Project Based Section 8 units which are administered by CVR of New York. CVR requires all applicants interested in a subsidized apartment to complete CVR' s waiting list and application process. Upon predetermination of pre-eligibility by CVR they will provide the applicant with a referral to complete the applicant eligibility process with Fort Schuyler House. Upon determination of eligibility by Fort Schuyler House CVR will be notified and they will conduct an income and asset interview to determine final eligibility.
Fort Schuyler House also has 8 Market-rate units. Interested parties may apply and be considered for a Market-rate unit by obtaining and completing the application process with Fort Schuyler House. Such applicants will be required to pay the market rent or use a subsidy provided by another subsidy provider (eg. HPD, NYCHA).
All applicants must also pass a background check and complete the site's application and Low Income Housing Tax Credit tenant income certification process.
